John's Obituary
John H. Soper IV, 74, of St. Joseph passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019 in Baldwin, MI.
John was born on April 24, 1944 in Benton Harbor, MI to John & Marion (Patrick) Soper III. He was a graduate of Benton Harbor High School class of 1962. On July 20, 1968 he wed Sandra Cardemon in South Haven. John was the owner of Soper Manufacturing for 45 years before retiring. He was the former president of Eaton Park where he was responsible for starting the softball league and a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge. John enjoyed being active and spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling and flying. He often loved playing cards with his family and friends. John was a loving and caring father who taught his family what strength and courage were. John provided exceptional care for his disabled wife for 28 years. He will be remembered for being an incredibly devoted and loving father and husband who adored his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Sandra; children, John Soper V of St. Joseph, Mark (Jennifer) Soper of Stevensville and Carrie (Chris) Warren of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Luke, Jackson, Cash and Cate; sisters, Pat Knipple of WY and Mary (Chuck) Hooper of TN and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bill Soper and brother-in-law Larry Knipple.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held privately with John’s family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
