Esther's Obituary

Esther (Peppel) Lovell of Dearborn, MI, died on November 9, 2018 surrounded by her family. Esther was born on July 3, 1934 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Lydia (Gellert) and Julius Peppel. She believed that busy hands were happy hands from her first job shucking corn as a young teenager to her years at Clark Equipment until her retirement from Whirlpool Corporation. After retirement, she worked at Walgreens and then worked and volunteered for Vista Maria in Dearborn, MI. She loved to spend time walking outdoors, clipping coupons, or working on crossword puzzles. She loved nothing more than to spend time with her friends and family. To her, no one was a stranger, and she had a kind and generous heart. She made friends with everyone she met, whether in the aisle of the grocery store or out on her daily walk, stopping to say hello to every child or dog she met. She loved all animals and was never without a pocket full of dog biscuits to give her furry friends. The family cat, Henry, brought her great comfort during her final days. Esther was preceded in death by her Peppel brothers: Frederick, Albert, Edward, Samuel, and Henry; her sister Ida Green, her infant son, David Keith Lovell, and her great-granddaughter, Gabriella Green. She is survived by her children, Pam (Michael Popenas) Lovell, Paula (Rick) Sears, James Lovell, and Lydia (Daniel Reid) Roth; grandchildren, Shane (Tanya) Green, Justin Martinez, Courtniee Lovell, Emily Roth, and Danielle Sears; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elsie Eye, Ruth Wilkes, Linda Peppel-Ludwig, and Janie Peppel-Wojdula (Ray) and many nieces and nephews. Her family and friends will all greatly miss her, especially on birthdays when she never failed to call and sing happy birthday. May her memory be a blessing. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph with Pastor Tom Bird officiating. Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Shelter to Home of Wyandotte, MI (http://www.sheltertohome.com) Those wishing to leave a message of condolence for the family may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
