William Hoyt Gartley

William “Bill” Hoyt Gartley, 90, of Stevensville, passed away Tuesday September 11, 2018 at Woodland Terrace in Bridgman. A private family service will take place at a later date. Those wishing to leave an online condolences may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Bill was born on April 7, 1928 in Buffalo South Dakota to Hoyt and Sarah (Cavin) Gartley. He proudly served our country in the US Navy from June 1946 to April 1948.  He graduated with a Electric Engineering degree from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in 1952. On August 7, 1954 he wed Harriet Rosser in Beloit Wisconsin.  Bill started his career with Whirlpool Corporation in Marion Ohio in 1955.  He enjoyed golf, bowling and playing bridge in his free time. He was a Chicago Bears fan and loved to spend time with friends and family. Bill is survived by his daughter Pam (Dennis) Reilly of St. Joseph; son David (Sharon) Gartley of Marion, OH; grandchildren, Daniel (Lacey) Gartley, Richard (Rianna) Gartley, Jason (Amy) Reilly and  Stephanie (Matthew) Carlson, and great-grandchildren Hazel Gartley and Ava Carlson. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 63 years Harriet and sister Alice.
