Jean A. Simmons-Tefs

Jean A. Simmons-Tefs, 67, of Stevensville, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, September 7, 2018, also at the funeral home. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com  Jean was born on October 22, 1950, to Reinhold and Lillian (Roy) Tefs in St. Joseph. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1968. Jean worked for Imperial Printing Corp and retired from Edward Jones as a Branch Office Administrator. On August 14, 1998, she married James “Jim” Simmons, Jr. in St. Joseph. Jean was an excellent cook. She loved gardening and flowers, her yard was always immaculate. Most of all, Jean cherished her family and cats. Jean is survived by her daughter, Dawn Everett of Stevensville; step-sons, Jay Simmons of St. Joseph and Jeff (Melissa) Simmons of Baroda; brothers, Leroy Tefs and Russell (Dixie) Tefs; grandchildren, Kayla and Kelsey Franks and Alex Everett; two great-grandchildren and her two cats. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reinhold and Lillian Tefs; husband, Jim Simmons, Jr.; sons, Jason and Johnny Franks and sister, Judy Companion.
