Delores Ardell Schrag

Delores “Dee” Ardell Schrag, 86, of St Joseph, passed away at the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, June 25, 2018 at 11AM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd, St Joseph, with Pastor Harris Hoekwater officiating. Friends may visit with the family Sunday, June 24, from 1 PM until 3 PM at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Caring Circle or St Joseph First United Methodist Church. Those wishing to leave a condolence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Dee was born on September 13, 1931, in Grand Rapids, to Max and Hazel (Oster) Miller. Dee married Edward Schrag on December 28, 1973 in South Bend, Indiana. She started her career at The Indiana and Michigan Electric as an administrative assistant, then worked for many years at the Berrien County Court House and retired from Whirlpool Corporation. Dee believed in volunteering.  She spent many hours at the front desk at Lakeland and volunteered at St. Joseph First United Methodist Church and was a member of the knitting club. Knitting was her passion when she was not with family and friends; she loved to knit scarves, hats and baby blankets. Great family traditions were getting together to bake Christmas cookies and running a formal competition in egg coloring with four generations of family during the holidays. Dee is survived by her husband, Edward; children, Claudia (Michael) Hanley of St Joseph, Guy (Dyanna) Price of Dowagiac, Mark (Diana) Price of Sawyer, Denise (Brian) Habig of Palm Springs, CA, and Heidi (Don) Weiss, of Marseilles, IL; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Max and Hazel; and son, Jimmy Price.
