Linda's Obituary

Linda Sue (Lawyer) Chapman, 72, of Stevensville, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Linda was born April 11, 1946 in Tulsa, OK where she attended Nathan Hale High School, Class of 1964, and where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Glenn.  Linda attended Draughon’s Business College in Tulsa. She was actively involved in her community.  She was a member of Riverview Park Christian Church where she sang in the choir, and was a member of Monday Musical. Linda volunteered at Silver Beach Carousel,  and enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities.  She also donated over 13 gallons of blood to the  Red Cross.  Linda helped facilitate the first hospice care in this area. She worked with hospice and for many years was employed with local heart & vascular surgeons, retiring from Surgical Specialists in 2011.  Linda was beloved by her family & friends and will be remembered for her smile, her laugh & her charm. Linda leaves behind her husband Glenn of fifty-one years; daughters Christy (Phil) Muhlenkamp, of South Bend, Lisa Wolske of Coloma; eight grandchildren-Ashley, Zachary, Caitlin, Kinsey, Megan, Anna, Joelle & Andrew; three sisters-Anita Gilliland of Austin, TX, Sally (Jim) DeFoor of Fort Worth, TX, Diana (Walker) Hanson of Tulsa, OK; brothers-in-law Randy Chapman of Angola, IN, Curtis (Teri) Chapman & Philip Chapman, both of Tulsa; and numerous nieces & nephews.  She was preceded in death by an infant sister Cynthia Lawyer, her parents Clyde & Jane (Nelson) Lawyer, her brother-in-law John Gilliland and her sister-in-law Pam Chapman.     A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday June 23, 2018 at Riverview Park Christian Church, 2929 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. David Stout officiating.  Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday June 22 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.  Memorial donations in Linda’s name may be made to Riverview Park Christian Church or Centered on Wellness (formerly The Samaritan Center).  Those wishing to sign Linda’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
