Charlotte Rose Marie (Slamp) Hocking
Charlotte Rose Marie Hocking, 77, of Stevensville passed away peacefully with her children at her side Sunday, May 27, 2018, at Hanson Hospice Center. Per Charlotte’s wishes, she has been cremated.
Charlotte was born May 30, 1940, in Summit, Ill. to the late Robert and Rosemary Slamp, and was preceded in death by her sister, Rosemary Ann (Slamp) Genung; and former husband, Bradley Evan Hocking Sr.
Charlotte enjoyed traveling all over the world following her husband who was enlisted in the U.S. Navy and while working with Lockheed Martin. They were stationed in Turkey, Morocco, California, Hawaii and the Philippines. Charlotte had a very strong faith, believing in a resurrection. She enjoyed nature and animals. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She went to Benton Harbor High School and graduated from Berrien Springs. She was a homemaker for many years while raising five children. Later working along with her husband, owning and operating Data Communications a Radio Shack franchise in Berrien Springs.
Survivors include a sister, Susan Lynn (Slamp) Hathcoat; and all five of her children: Debra Hocking, Tammy (Brian) Dwyer, Sherry (Haji) Tehrani, Bradley (Debbie) Hocking Jr., Peggy (Chad) Scharnowske; her grandchildren: Tanya, Christopher, Steven, Matthew, Tiffany, Malia, Tia, Sara, Ariana, and Scott; and great-grandchildren: Olivia, Xavier, Evan, Jasmine, McKenzie, Brooks and Oliver.
Charlotte requested a private family service that will be held later. Bradley E. Hocking Jr. will officiate the service. Memorial donations may be sent to the Hanson Hospice Center, 4382 Cleveland Ave., Stevensville, MI 49127.
