Francis Weldon Regan

Francis Weldon Regan Jr., 93, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Crystal Care Center of Ashland in Ashland, OH.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 220 Church St., St. Joseph with Fr. Robert Creagan officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with the rosary recited at 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.  Weldon was born March 31, 1925 in Chicago, IL to Weldon and Adrianna (Wilke) Regan Sr. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. On June 18, 1949 he married Elizabeth “Betty” A. Wiegand in Michigan City, IN. They were married for 66 years.  Weldon earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Purdue University in 1950. He continued his education by attending night school for many years for classes in engineering. During his career Weldon worked at Kingsbury Ordinance Plant, U.S. Steel, Industrial Rubber Goods, Ball Rubber and finally retiring from the Anderson Company (ANCO). After retirement, Weldon returned to one of his passions, carpentry, by starting a successful home construction business.  Sailing was another passion which Weldon enjoyed all of his adult life. With his family, Weldon raced the Chicago – Mackinac, the Tri-State and the St. Joseph River Yacht Club races. Weldon is survived by his siblings Annette, Denny and Tom, his children; Weldon (Julia) Regan, Bill (Karen) Regan, Drew (Denise) Regan, Cathy (Joe) Daly and Beth (Paul) Maloney; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   Weldon was preceded in death by his parents, wife and eight siblings.
