Dorothy Stella (Brownell) Pullano, 89, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, with the Very Rev. Robert Creagan officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Those wishing to share a memory of Dorothy may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Dorothy was born April 7, 1929 in Keeler, Township, to Kenneth and Irene (Fruzen) Brownell. She married Philip Pullano on July 3, 1954 in Benton Harbor. Dorothy was a pillar of strength and love for her family. She was an extraordinary homemaker. She worked at E.P. Clarke Elementary School and later for many years at Nye’s Apple Barn. Dorothy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be deeply missed by her children and grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Lora (Frank) Olson, Shellie (Steve) Hauch, Cindy Monte, Tina (Jim) Machacek; sons, Gary (Linda) Pullano, Philip (Sheryl) Pullano; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings: Doris Glenn, June Dings, Roy Brownell and Eleanor Lambrecht. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings: Jean “Billy” Head and Ruth Wambaugh, Gilbert, Kenneth and Lowell Brownell.
