Marie J. Onofrio

Marie J. Onofrio, 98, formerly of Benton Harbor, passed away, Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Pine Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Stevensville.   A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 21, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church, 404 E Glenlord Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Glenn Rosenbaum officiating.  Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma.  Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the Church.  Memorials in Marie’s name may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Caring Circle Hospice.  Those wishing to sign Marie’s guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.   Marie was born April 18, 1920 in South Haven, Michigan to John & Lena (Winkel) Harsch.  She graduated from South Haven High School Class of 1937.  Marie was employed as a bookkeeper for Harris-Reams & Ambrose in St. Joseph for several years retiring in the early 70’s.  On December 12, 1965 she married Angelo “Mike” Onofrio in South Haven.  Marie was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she formerly served on the Altar Guild for many years.  She was a wonderful cook and cherished the time spent with her family.   Marie is survived by two daughters-Bonnie Onofrio of Benton Harbor, Barbara (Blake) Onofrio-Crenshaw of Torrannce, CA; one grandson Cody Crenshaw; three brothers-Jerry (Ellen) Harsch of CA, Richard Harsch & Vernon (Betty) Harsch, both of South Haven; and numerous nieces & nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Mike on December 20, 1997, her parents, and two sisters-Clara Seroke & Margaret Harsch, and a nephew Mike Seroke.
