Alice Martin Davis, 87, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away, Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Woodland Terrace of Bridgman.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 11, 2018 at Scottdale United Methodist Church, 4271 Scottdale Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Terry Schneider officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Alice was born July 21, 1930 in Benton Harbor to Bernard & Elsie (Scharnowske) Maas. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School and later earned her Certified Nursing Assistant accreditation. Alice worked at V-M Corporation in Benton Harbor for many years, DeColores in Stevensville for several years, and at Berrien General Hospital after becoming a CNA. She provided home health care to many, including friends & family over the years. Alice was a very loving & giving person, always willing to help in whatever way she could. She volunteered at Berrien County Cancer Service and supported the local veteran’s groups. Alice was a member of Scottdale United Methodist Church and the Bard School Gang. She loved all animals and cherished the time spent with her family and many friends.
Alice is survived by her children-Sonya (Andy) Menchinger of Benton Harbor, Karen (Dan) Putnam of Holland, MI, Gloria Martin of Lakeside CA, Jack L. (Teresa) Martin, Jr. of Coloma, Glen Davis of St. Joseph; seven grandchildren-Melissa Pajot, Chuck (Carol) Lockwitz, James (Heidi) Lockwitz, Emily (Ken) Tharp, Kaitlyn (Tim) Williams, Erik (Emily Cochran) Menchinger, Aaron (Lindsey) Menchinger; fourteen great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews; and special neighbors & adopted family Sally Robinson, Jason Storm & Aaron Thumm. She was preceded in death by her first husband-Jack L. Martin, Sr. on July 15, 1984, her second husband Donald C. Davis on June 18, 2012 and three brothers-Alfred, Edward & Seymour Maas.
