Dennis G Herrold, 76, of St. Joseph, Michigan went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday April 10, 2018, at Lakeland Medical Center – St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, Michigan with Pastor LaVerne Davenport officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 2pm until 4pm, with Masonic Rites conducted by F&AM Lodge #437, 4pm. The service will begin following the Masonic Rites. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children – Chicago. Dennis was born October 19, 1941 in Rochester, Pennsylvania to Roy and Barbara (Thompson) Herrold. Dennis attended school at Rochester High School, he played an active role in school government and sports and graduated in 1959. He continued his education at the University of Toledo on a football scholarship, where he earned a bachelor’s degree. Dennis married Anne Kingsley on August 10, 1963, in Toledo, Ohio. She preceded him in death on January 20, 1985. Dennis the married Barbara Hass on February 14, 1986 in Niles, Michigan. For many years Dennis worked in manufacturing for various businesses such as American Motors/Jeep and Sheller – Globe. In 1987, he purchased K-O Products and operated it successfully for many years.
Denny was the life of the party, he had a sense of humor that was out of this world. He loved making others laugh, in particular when dressed as his “alter ego” Blossom the clown, appearing in community parades and as a member of the Kalamazoo Shrine Clowns. Dennis also enjoyed boating, traveling, and being outdoors. He most enjoyed his travels, whether a trek to another continent or a drive to another state. As a father and grandfather, he shared his love of life in his wise, special way with all of his children and grandchildren. Dennis was a proud member of several organizations. Masons, Scottish Rite, Shriners, Al- Haj, Jesters and served as the founding president of The Benton Harbor Sunrise Rotary Club. His absence will be felt by his family, friends and the many people whose lives he touched.
