Margaret Hauwetter

Margaret “Peggy” Hauwetter, 96, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2016, peacefully while at her home at the Whitcomb  Residence Per her request, cremation has taken place with no services. Peggy was born in 1921 in Vohylnia, Russia to Fred and Theresa (Zielke) Yops.  In 1926 her parents and 7 siblings, immigrated through Mexico to Benton Harbor where she lived most of her life. In 1945, she married Alfred Hauwetter and together they raised three children before his passing in 2003.  Later in their lives they moved to Stevensville, and she then moved to the Whitcomb in 2016.  She enjoyed her daily walks, puttering in her garden, cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by all of us. We would like to express a special thank you to those who provided extra care and support during her final years and the attentive and caring staff at the Whitcomb. Peggy is survived by her three children, Bruce Hauwetter of Stevensville, Cheryl Pedde of Stevensville and Betty (Bruce) Rutherford of Houston, TX; grandchildren Jon Hauwetter, Ann (Rory) Weir; Tiffany (Jeff) Rodriguez, Leah (Chad) Zavoral and 12 great grandchildren.
