Mary L. Schramm, 91, of St. Joseph, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Hanson Hospice Center.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday at 1:00 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd, St. Joseph, officiated by Rev. Michael Roth. Burial will follow in North Shore Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 5 PM until 7 PM on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the funeral home. Mary was born on December 7, 1926 to Peter & Margaret (Aresso) Zupo in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She married Emil Schramm on August 7, 1948 in St. Joseph.
During her life, her family came first. Always being active in her family’s lives, she was a Girl Scout leader for her daughter’s troop and was active in working with the boy scouts for her sons’ troops. Every Saturday, she spent her time volunteering at Gersonde Bowling Alley (now Kelly’s Bowling) during Junior Bowling helping all the kids learn how to bowl. Mary was a member of Trinity Lutherans Ladies Aid and a volunteer at the former Shoreham Terrace Nursing Home.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Kurt) Schneider; sons, Tom Schramm and Edward (Anna) Schramm all of St. Joseph; seven grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil in 1995; and brothers, Ralph and Salvadore Zupo.
