Russell L. Pfaff

Russell L. Pfaff, 95, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at Presence Mercy Hospital, Aurora, IL.  A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at 1:00 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Jill Ore officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Charlotte, 1420 E. Seventh St., Charlotte, NC 28204. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.  Russell was born June 25, 1922 in Sioux City Iowa. He spent all his formative years in South Sioux City, Nebraska graduating high school there. He attended Wayne State College prior to entering the Navy during World War II. Upon discharge from the Navy he joined his father in law in the candy business. He later was employed by E. J. Brock and Sons where he spent 33 years prior to retiring. Upon retirement Mr. Pfaff became a volunteer at Carolina Medical Center, Pineville, NC, a duty he thoroughly enjoyed. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Patricia. Following her death he moved to Illinois to be closer to family. He most recently resided at Plum Landing in Aurora, IL until his passing.  Russell is survived by his brother-in-law, Fred W. (Fritzie) Findeisen; nephew Fritz R. (Juli) Findeisen; and niece, Kristina (Dan) Larsen. He was also the beloved great uncle of Derek, Kristof, Fritzel and Michell. All of whom he proudly enjoyed watching wrestle throughout high school.
