Maria Luisa Rodriguez, 87, of Donna, TX (formerly of Stevensville) passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church, 600 Columbus St., Benton Harbor, with V. Rev. Robert Creagan officiating. Burial will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 3 PM until 5 PM with the Rosary being recited at 5 PM, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Maria was born on August 19, 1930, in Donna, TX, to Luis & Anastacia (Rodriguez) Peña. On July 10, 1948, she married the love of her life, Leopoldo “Leo” Rodriguez, Sr., in Edinburg, TX. They were happily married for 40 years before his passing in 1988. Maria was a proud member of St. John’s Catholic Church. She also enjoyed singing, cooking, sewing for her grandchildren and arts & crafts. Most of all, Maria loved spending time with her family. She was a kind hearted and wonderful lady who will be missed dearly by all. Maria is survived by her 13 children, Anna (Bruce) Webber; Lupita Rodriguez; Edelmira Rodriguez; Noelia (Manuel) Gonzales; Leonardo Rodriguez; Arturo (Nora) Rodriguez; Irma (Ricardo) Vela; Jose (Mirna) Rodriguez; Ruben (Annette) Rodriguez; Leticia English; Rojelio Rodriguez; Debbie Rodriguez; and Corina (Marcelo) Perez; daughter-in-law Delia Rodriguez; 23 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Luis & Anastacia; husband, Leo Sr. who passed away in 1988, and son, Leo Jr. who passed away in 2014.
