Nelda's Obituary

Nelda Jean Kuschel, 86, of Stevensville, passed away on October 27, 2017, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at Stevensville United Methodist Church, 5506 Ridge Rd., Stevensville, with Rev. David Hills officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, October, 29, 2017, from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Jean was born on November 19, 1930, to Claude & Hazel “Curtis” Rosenberg in Benton Harbor. She graduated from St. Joseph High School and then worked as a Dietary Aide at Memorial Hospital where she retired after 30 years of service. On February 18, 1951, Jean married William Kuschel in Florida. Jean enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and knitting. She was known for knitting prosthetics for breast cancer survivors who underwent mastectomies. Nelda had a beautiful frog collection and enjoyed playing penny slot machines at casinos. Jean is survived by her children, Bradley (Laura) Kuschel of Milwaukee, WI, Todd Kuschel of Mahtomedi, MN and Carole (Jon Kinsting) Linton of St. Joseph; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; daughter-in-law Pam Kuschel of Stillwater, MI; and sister Fran Bowsman of Fletcher, OH. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Claude & Hazel Rosenberg; husband William; daughter Darcie Erb; granddaughter Amanda Linton; and siblings, Claudine Ross and Neal Forbes.
