Catherine “Cathy” Ann Knapp, 84, of St. Joseph, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017, at Buchanan Meadows. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 201 Church St., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Cathy was born on July 4, 1933, in Benton Harbor, to Ralph & Grace (Brant) Black. She graduated from St. Johns High School in Benton Harbor in 1951. Cathy married Wesley Knapp on September 13, 1952, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Benton Harbor. She enjoyed volunteering for Lakeland Regional Medical Center and Birthright. Cathy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she sang in the choir. Cathy had a passion for reading and her dogs, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Cathy is survived by her children, Robert “Chris” (Pamela) Knapp of Oviedo, FL, Michael (MaryAnn) Knapp of Mundelein, IL, Thomas (Kathleen) Knapp of St. Joseph, Richard Knapp of Stevensville and Anna (Stephen) Vogt of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Rebecca, Benjamin, Jeffrey, Kathleen, Kellye, Tracey, Kendall, Brian, Rachael, Amy, Eric, Hannah, Sarah and John; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Melanie, Nolan, Victoria, Tristan, Jamie and Lucy; sister Helen Vollrath of Coloma; and brother Ralph(Virginia) Black of Hartford. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wesley; children, Theresa Knapp and John Knapp; grandson Daniel Knapp; and brother-in-law George Vollrath.
