Wayne J. Hitson

Wayne J. Hitson, 73, of Benton Harbor, passed away, Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 51841 Leach Rd., Dowagiac, with Fr. Richard Altine officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. The family invites you to a Celebration of Life Open House on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 5:00PM-10PM at Steve’s Lounge, 13200 S. Baltimore Ave., Chicago, IL to share good memories of Wayne and pay your condolences. He graduated from Washington High School in Chicago, Class of 1962.  On August 10, 1996, he married the former Cynthia Guadagno in Alsip, Illinois.  Wayne was the owner of W.J. Hitson & Company Painting in Alsip, until his retirement when he moved to Benton Harbor.  He was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, enjoyed golfing, traveling & life in general. He cherished the time spent with his wife, children & grandchildren.   Wayne is survived by his wife Cindy; his children-Nadine Ali of Dyer, IN, Phillip (Nancy) Hitson of Bourbonnais, IL, Linnea Hitson of Palmetto Bay, FL, Colleen (Andy) Butler of Highland Park, IL, Yvette (Shawn) Healy of Madison, WI; eleven grandchildren-Aaron, Justin, Amanda, Drew, Kyle, Joshua, Jasmin, Jillian, Avery, Grace, & Maeve;  one great-granddaughter Sophia; and his sister Camille Owen of Lansing, IL.  He was preceded in death by his parents & a sister.
