Odell Salach, 87, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the Willow’s Assisted Living in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph with Rev. Tom Bird officiating. Friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Odell was born on November 28, 1929 in Beech Creek, KY to Frank & Lennie (Newman) Locke. At a young age she moved to Chicago, IL and it is there where she met and wed Francis Salach on August 24, 1946. Odell kept a busy schedule caring for her home and her four daughters. In her spare time she enjoyed making crafts and taking walks.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Stanley) Masters of St. Joseph, Pamela Salak of Portage and Paula (Eric) Burkhardt of Port Charlotte, FL; grandchildren, April, Dawn, Aaron, Mara, Laura, Katie, Melanie and Stephanie; great-grandchildren Emma and Venice; son-in-law Robert Hutchins of Watervliet, longtime friend Chester Buse and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Francis on October 21, 1992, daughter Diana Hutchins on July 17, 2012, six brothers and three sisters.
