James's Obituary

James A. Joiner, Sr., 84, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at his residence. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Monday, September 11, 2017, at 1 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Michael Fields officiating. A private burial will take place at Millburg Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit with the family from 11 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. James was born on June 21, 1933, in Benton Harbor, to Clifford & Lena (Hardesty) Joiner. On July 19, 1952, he married the love of his life, Bonye Dill, in Benton Harbor. James worked in the Die Cast industry for various companies for over 25 years. He also worked with numerous churches as a Pastor and Youth Leader. James was a great outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. James loved his family more than anything; he was an incredible man and will be missed dearly by all. James is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Bonye; daughter, Kathleen Kirby; siblings, Floyd (Glenda) Joiner, Linda Kirby and Nancy (Martin) Ritlaw; daughter-in-law, Goldie Joiner; and many grandchildren & great-grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford & Lena; son, James Joiner, Jr.; brothers, Curt, Clifford “Frank”, Earl “Butch”, Terry, and Wesley Joiner; sisters, Ramona Beaman, Wilma Moore, Kittie Fields, and Mary Julena Bufford; and son-in-law, Carl “Wayne” Kirby.
