Joyce Jane Peek

Joyce Jane (Kirksey) Peek, 79, formally of St. Joseph, passed away at home on Monday, July 31, 2017 surrounded by her family and greeted by the angels. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, August 9, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. A graveside service will follow at 2:30PM at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Caring Circle Hospice. Those wishing to sign Joyce’s guestbook or leave an online condolence for the family may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Joyce was born December 19, 1937 in Black Oak, Arkansas, to Raymond and Molene (Howell) Kirksey. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1956. Shortly after graduation, Joyce was hired by Whirlpool Corporation, Corporate Headquarters where she retired from in 2000 with over thirty years of service in the accounting department. In her spare time, she loved crossword puzzles, word search games and you could always find her playing a game of Solitaire or Canasta with family. Joyce treasured the holidays when the Kirksey clan all came together to share stories and great southern food. She loved God and was a member of the Church of Christ in St. Joseph. Joyce will always be remembered for her kindness and gentle spirit. She was a friend to all and will be greatly missed. Joyce is survived by her daughter Tina (Wayne) Carlson, with whom she resided; grandsons Joshua and Marshall Mix, great-grandchildren, Cathy, Jackson, Alexis, Madison and Devin; brothers Danny Kirksey and Dennis Kirksey and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Lloyd Randolph Kirksey, brother Jerry Kirksey, sister Glenna (Kirksey) Corzine and nephew Mark Corzine.
