Richard's Obituary
Richard C. (Dick) Hahn, age 88, went to live with the Lord on Friday, July 28, at Lakeland Medical Center St. Joseph due to heart failure, or “heart stoppage” as he would jokingly say, “gets ‘em every time.” His Heavenly Father richly blessed him during his years on this earth. He was born in Benton Harbor, MI, on November 7, 1928, to the late Alice (Kuball) and Robert A. Hahn. Siblings include Robert F. Hahn (deceased), Bernice Burbach and Chester (Jeanne) Hahn of Sodus (deceased), James “Babe” (Betty) Hahn of Stevensville, Jerry (Rachel) Hahn of Fayetteville, NC, and Arlene (Bob) Russell of Benton Harbor.
Rich graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1947. On June 24, 1950, he married the love of his life, June Banks (deceased), at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor. They were married for 63 years. Together they were blessed with three children: Karen (Jan) Platts of Eaton Rapids, Richelle (Dennis) Ciboch of St. Joseph, and Dennis (Bobbi) Hahn of Jenison, along with 8 grandchildren: Kelley (Tom) Delozier of Charlotte, NC, Scott (Beth) Klug of Eau Claire, Shaun (Stephanie) Klug of Ypsilanti, Joshua Ciboch of Ann Arbor, Justin Ciboch of St. Clair Shores, Zoe Platts (deceased), Marisa and Rachel Hahn of Jenison, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Rich was a long-time member of Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor. He worked for almost 47 years at Whirlpool Corporation in Benton Harbor. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, bowling, fishing, deer hunting, traveling, playing pumpkin ball, pitching horseshoes, tossing bean bags, watching the Detroit Tigers and spending time with his family. He also took great pride in keeping a beautiful yard and gardens.
Rich will be remembered as a loving husband, a great father, a silly grandpa, jack-of-all-trades, and an excellent athlete. His sense of humor will forever make us smile.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 2 PM until 4 PM at the Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.
