Steven's Obituary

Steven W. Prieur, 48, of Stevensville, passed away, Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at his home.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Military Rites conducted by the North Berrien Military Rites Team. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorials in Steven’s name may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.  Those wishing to sign Steven’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.  Steven was born October 1, 1968 in Alexandria, Ontario, Canada to Ada (nee: McMurray) & Raymond Prieur. He earned his RN Certification and worked as a trauma nurse in various hospitals across the United States, most recently at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.  He volunteered his time in Biloxi, Mississippi during Hurricane Katrina.  Steven served his country in the US Army, 41st Route Clearance Co., 1st Engineer Battalion, 555th Engineer Brigade during the Afghanistan War, where he earned a Purple Heart, being discharged as Sergeant in February 2013.  He was a member of Stevensville American Legion Post #568.  Steven enjoyed cooking & grilling, hunting & fishing, spending time on the beaches of Mexico, playing hockey in the Senior League at Notre Dame, and listening to rock & roll music-especially Motley Crew, playing drums and riding his Harley.  Steve was kind and generous and lived life as big as he was.  “Go big or go home” was a favorite saying.  Steve is survived by his fiancé Olga Fraley; two sons-Neil Prieur & Jordan Prieur, both of Millbrook Alabama, their mother Danielle Prieur of Millbrook, Alabama; his mother and stepfather Ada & Bob Sloan of Cornwall, Ontario; brother Mark (Andrea) Prieur of Caledon East, Ontario; his sister Kimberley (Michel) Leroux of Timmins, Ontario; nieces & nephews-Kyle, Tyson & Bryce Prieur, Julie & Ryan Leroux; Olga’s daughter Valerie Antonova of Pittsburgh, PA; Olga’s brother and his children-Vlad (Tatyana) Davydov, Alexandra & Dennis Davydov, all of Moscow, Russia. He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Prieur.
