Steven Charles Stults

Steven C. Stults, 62, of Bridgman, MI passed away at his home on Thursday, July 6, 2017. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.  Steven was born on July 15, 1954 in Niles, MI to the late Eugene and Ruth (Rumsey) Stults. He served his country during the Vietnam War while in the U.S. Army. On September 25, 1982 in St. Joseph, MI he married Lee Renee Socha. Most recently Steven worked and retired (2016 after more than 20 years) as a machine operator from Supreme Castings in Stevensville, MI. He was a member of The Chapel; he loved to skeet shoot at the Berrien County Sportsman Club; and had an amazing artistic talent doing freehand sign painting with his father for many years. Steven was kind and gentle, known to some as the ‘Gentle Giant’, and was loved by all who met him. Although Steven and Lee didn’t have children of their own, they adopted and treated their family and friends children as their own. Steven was especially fond of Jessica Rumsey, Ava and Addison Brown and Maddi and Clare Srajer.  Steven is survived by his wife – Lee; his two sisters – Ann (Mike) Rohyans of Mishawaka, IN and Vicky (Doug) Bradley of Greenville, MI; a cousin – Jo Ann Rumsey; niece – Amber Harrell and her son Collin; and nephews – Brent and Eric Snyder. A nephew precedes him in death – Christopher Harrell.  A Celebration of Life service will take place on Sunday, July 16, 4:00pm at The Chapel, 4250 Washington Ave., St. Joseph, MI with Rev. Philip Bubar officiating. Friends may visit with the family 1 hour prior to the service from 3:00-4:00pm at The Chapel. Steven’s final resting place will be at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville, MI, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations may be made to either The Chapel or to the Berrien County Humane Society.
