Carl Andrew Zeitler

Carl Andrew Zeitler, 76, of St. Joseph, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017, at Lakeland Medical Center.   The family will receive friends from 4:30 PM until 6:30 PM on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at Starks and Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sarett Nature Center or the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. Those wishing to send a condolence or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Carl was born on May 7, 1941 to the late Carl C. and Loretta (Kezel) Zeitler in Chicago, IL. He attended Volta Elementary School and graduated from Von Steuben High School in Chicago. Carl was a basketball star in high school and continued playing at Wright College. After graduating from Wright College, Carl went on to get his master’s degree from the University of Illinois. On October 8, 1983 he married Mary Fulton in St. Joseph, MI. He worked as Staff Metallurgical Engineer at Whirlpool where he retired after 35 years of service. Carl enjoyed boating, fishing, camping and spending time with his grade school friends from Chicago. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. Carl is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mary; children, Carl Zeitler, Elizabeth Zeitler, Zachary Zeitler and Rachel Zeitler and granddaughter, Emily Zeitler. He was preceded in death by his parents.
