Roy Clinton Oakley, Jr., 84, of Watervliet, MI, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, MI. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 269-556-9450. No visitation or memorial service has been planned. A private burial will take place at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made in Roy’s name to VFW Post 6803, P.O. Box 641, Watervliet, MI  49098 or The American Legion Post 362, 351 E. Saint Joseph St., Coloma, MI  49038.  Those wishing to leave an online condolence for the family may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.  Roy was born February 9, 1933 in Benton Harbor, MI to Roy, Sr. and Louise (Mundt) Oakley. He was a 1951 graduate of Benton Harbor High School.  Roy proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956.  He was a loyal member of the Benton Harbor VFW Post 1137 until it closed then transferred to the Coloma American Legion Post 362.  He had a life-long career with Whirlpool ultimately retiring as a Sr. Product Designer.  Roy avidly supported the University of Michigan, Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. In his spare time he loved to golf.        Roy is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Dennis) Schultz of St. Joseph, MI; granddaughter, Jennifer Wainscott of St. Joseph, MI; grandson, Matthew Schultz of St. Joseph, MI; brother, John Oakley of Coloma, MI; sister, Ethel Huntley of California and former wife, Joan Drescher of St. Joseph, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles; and sisters, Anna, Mary, Donna and Kay.
