Kenneth D. Schiming

Kenneth “Ken” D. Schiming, 75, of Berrien Springs, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Lakeland Medical Center- St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph, with Pastor Michael Roth officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, May 1, 2017, at the funeral home. Ken was born October 6, 1941, in Benton Harbor, MI to Gustave & Millie (Gano) Schiming. He was a graduate of Benton Harbor High School Class of 1959. On February 3, 1968 he wed Karen Petruschke at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. Ken owned and operated Kens Village Inn Bar and Restaurant in Eau Claire for over 25 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Southwest Michigan Car Collectors. Ken enjoyed collecting antiques and railroad lanterns. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Karen; son, Kenneth Scott (Gina) Schiming of Mattawan; and grandchildren, Zachary & Kayla Schiming. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Betty Mills, Beverly Hollatz, Carolyn Byers, Patricia Treat and Arnold Schiming.
