Marion Ashby

Marion Ashby (Kuse), 98, of St. Joseph, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Pine Ridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Stevensville. A time of visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11 AM with Rev. Marlo Fritzke officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society. Those wishing to send condolences or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.   Marion was born on January 4, 1919 to the late Rhine and Bell (Puterbaugh) Kuse in St. Joseph, MI. she worked in the produce department at Schneck’s Grocery Store. She was married to George Exum until he preceded her in death. On September 11, 1971 she married George Ashby, he preceded her in death in 2005. Marion was a member at Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ, St. Joseph. She would knit and crochet for schools and hospitals. Marion also enjoyed playing cards, watching football, dogs and cats. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Marion is survived by her daughter, Karon (Wayne) Shell; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Shelley) Shell and Greg (Ann) Shell and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, second husband and siblings, Jessiebell Danneffell, Mable Ostewig and Karl Kuse.
