Virginia's Obituary

Virginia E. Kirby, 92, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Pine Ridge Nursing Home in Stevensville, MI. She was born on September 14, 1924 in Marine City, MI to Chalmer H. & Marion L. (Love) Robison. Virginia moved to Walnut Lake, MI at age 16 where she met and later went on to wed Thomas V. Kirby in 1943. Virginia and “Vern” raised their older children in at Walnut Lake.  In 1970, they moved to Bradenton, FL where they lived for the next 30 years. Virginia kept a busy schedule caring for her home and children and also worked as a seamstress during her time in Florida.  Virginia moved back to Michigan, settling in St. Joseph in 2005. She was a member of PACE of Southwest Michigan and enjoyed spending time at the St. Joseph Senior Center. Virginia loved playing various card games and taught all of her grandchildren how to play. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life and she never missed a birthday or special occasion. Virginia is survived by her children Judy Rice of St. Joseph, Jacalyn Drury of Bradenton, FL, Timothy Kirby of Bradenton, FL, Thomas Kirby of Wixom, MI and Kenneth Kirby of Howell, MI; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband in 1986. Per Virginia’s wishes cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Senior Center or PACE of Southwest Michigan.
