Donald Carl Maynard

Donald C. Maynard, 79, of St. Joseph, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at his home. A private Celebration of Life Service will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Donald was born on September 7, 1937 in Nahma, MI to Donald & Dorothy (Cousineau) Maynard. He graduated from Manistique High School in 1955. Donald continued his education at Michigan Technological University and then transferred to Western Michigan University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He worked at Ford Motor Company for 26 years and retired from Dearborn Headquarters as a supervisor of Network Operations in 1990.On August 23, 1958, Donald married the love of his life, Dorothy Amon, in Buchanan. He was a proud member of the Elks Drill Team in Clawson Troy, MI. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, wood working and remodeling homes. Donald is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Donald (Francelyn) Maynard of Bridgman and Shelly (Jeffery) Carney of Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren, William (Kim) Tremper, Amy Tremper, Donald, Jaclyn, Robert and Thomas Maynard, and Kyle & Morgan Carney; great-grandchildren, Donald Bakker and Tyler Tremper; brother, Raymond (Wilma) Maynard; and son-in-law, William Tremper III. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Lori Tremper.
