Herman's Obituary
Herman G. Fry, 87, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Hanson Hospice Center.
Herman was born on October 22, 1929, in Black Oak, Arkansas to Harvey & Ruby (Cudd) Fry. He enlisted in the Navy when he was 17, serving on the USS Lake Champlain and USS Bennington among many other favorite duty stations. He retired in 1968 after 22 years, having returned safely from the Korean and Vietnam wars.
On September 20, 1969, he married Alice (Diane) Davison in South Bend, IN. He then went to work in the custodial department for St Joseph MI Public Schools in 1972, retiring in 1992 after working at most of the schools in one capacity or another. He made many friends and touched a lot of lives during this time.
He enjoyed raising birds and waterfowl of all types, fishing, camping, motorcycles, airplanes, westerns, and playing the slots at the casino.
Surviving are his wife, Alice (Diane) Fry of Benton Harbor; daughter, Jennifer (Tim Davids) Fry of Sister Lakes, MI; One uncle, Bob Cudd of Jonesboro, AR; Sisters-in-law Cheryl Puterbaugh and Lois Joers; Brother-in-law Al Davison; Special daughter, Lynn Zimmerman-Terrell; special granddaughters, Lindsey & Lori Terrell and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and kids that he loved and mentored over the years.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Harold Fry, Jim Fry and Jean Harden.
Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. with a time for sharing at 2:30 P.M. on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.
