Concetta “Connie” Patti Smith, 88 of Stevensville passed away peacefully on March, 2, 2017 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, March 6, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph, MI, with Father Robert Creagan officiating. Burial to follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. A prayer service will be recited at 6:30 PM. Connie was born on September 11, 1928 in Covert, MI to John and Pauline (Gargano) Patti. After graduating from Covert High School, she worked at Peoples Savings Bank in Benton Harbor and as a waitress at Tosi’s for many years. On October 4, 1952 she married the love of her life, Grover T. “Smitty” Smith. In later years, they loved going on cruises and spent considerable time in Winter Haven, Florida, before he passed on March 13 of 2006. Her interests included bingo, playing cards and dice, and visiting the casinos. Most of all, Connie was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
Connie is survived by her two children, Pamela Hendrick and Michael Smith; three grandchildren, Trace (Kelly), Heidi and Luke Hendrick; two great-grandchildren, Liam and Ellie Hendrick; and one sister, Frances Fisher of Grandville. She was preceded by her parents; husband, Smitty; two sisters, Christine Mitchell and Grace Selter; and a brother, Joseph Patti.
