Laurence Edward Walter

Laurence Edward Walter, Sr., of Stevensville, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks and Menchinger Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.  No visitation or service has been planned.  A private burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made in Laurence’s name to Michigan Recreation and Park Association Foundation. Those wishing to share a memory of Laurence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Laurence was born August 22, 1945 in Oak Park, Illinois to Edward and Violet (Artz) Walter. After college he made his living in the tool and die industry.  He worked at State Tool for many years.  In his spare time, Laurence enjoyed woodworking and watching birds and wildlife.  In more recent years, he would meet friends for coffee and then drive to Lake Michigan to take in the sights and sounds of nature.  Most of all, Laurence was a family man.  Spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, was very important to him.  He was so proud of them. Laurence is survived by his son, Carson (Lindsey) Walter of Elkhart, Indiana; three grandchildren Amber, Joshua and Jake Walter; two great-grandchildren Aubrey and Austin Walter; and a sister, Holly Loizzo. He was preceded by his parents; wife, Dorothy Lewis Walter; brother, Ward; and son, Larry, Jr.
