Irving's Obituary

Irving “Irv” H. Neubauer, 91, of St. Joseph, MI, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and those he loved who have gone before him on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Pine Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stevensville. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Court and Market Streets, St. Joseph, with Rev. Michael Roth officiating.  Private committal services will be held at a later date at Riverview Cemetery.  Friends may visit with the family from 10 AM until 11:30 AM Saturday at the Church.  Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Michigan Parkinson Foundation.  Those wishing to sign Irv’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Irv was born September 1, 1925 in St. Joseph to Gustav & Otilia (Riemland) Neubauer.  He graduated from St. Joseph High School and Western Michigan University with a Bachelor’s degree, and attended the University of Michigan and Princeton University.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during both World War II & the Korean War.  Irv worked at Whirlpool for many years where he met his future wife, Lillian Miller.  They were married June 20, 1959 in South Bend, IN.  He began employment in 1959 with Du-Wel Metal Products of Bangor, MI.  He retired in 1990.  He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as president of the congregation, chairman of the board of education and chairman of the stewardship committee. He was a member of the church council and served on many church committees.  Irv was an avid golfer. He liked playing with co-workers and friends, but mostly playing with Lillian.  He enjoyed tending to his yard and his vegetable garden, making his famous dill pickles which he shared with friends and family, playing bridge, traveling and puttering around the house. He loved his family and serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Irv was a supportive, humorous and genuine person who will be missed dearly. Irv was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend to many. He is survived by his wife Lillian; his children-Ron Neubauer of Dowagiac, Sandra Neubauer of Phoenix, AZ, Kathleen (Mark) Scott of Freeland, MI, and Kimberly Neubauer of St. Joseph; three grandchildren-Krista McGann, Hannah and Rachel Scott; seven great-grandchildren-Derrick, Anthony, Camden, Christopher, Lynley, Jenna and Evan Maceo; many nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Bill (Susan) Miller.  He was preceded in death by a grandson David Neubauer and his sister and brother-in-law Adeline and Richard Grau.
