Marian's Obituary
Marian Kay Grooten better known as “Buddy”, passed away Saturday, January 21, at her home with her best friend and husband at her side. She was born on September 23, 1940 in Mt. Pleasant, MI.
Kay and John Grooten were married 44 years and raised three sons; Dan, Jake and Brien Dowell along with two daughters Janis Dowell-Wold and Tonya Keigley. Buddy loved her ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild more than life. To Buddy laughter, kids and dogs were her cure for everything. She loved to open her home to anyone who needed food, comfort and love. Buddy was a great friend to Berrien County Animal Control, the Berrien County Youth Fair and Neighbor to Neighbor Mission store in Berrien Springs. Our Buddy lives on in the hearts of many.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph. A time of sharing will take place at 6:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to her favorite cause, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
