Andrew's Obituary
Andrew Antonovich passed away in Middleton, Wisc., on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017.
He was born to John and Wilhelmina Antonovich on July 5, 1925, in Millburg, Mich. Andrew graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1943 and Michigan State University in 1949 with a BS in Chemistry. He enlisted and served in the Army Air Forces during WWII. Andrew was recalled to active duty by the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict and flew on twenty six B-29 combat missions as a Bombardier. In 1958, he married Eugenia Barylski in Cleveland, Ohio. They made their home in the Benton Harbor/ St. Joseph area. Andrew was employed by the city of Benton Harbor and the city of St. Joseph for the total of 38 years as an administrator of the Water Filtration Plant. He volunteered at Lakeland Hospital for several years and also for the St. Joseph/Lincoln Senior Center. Andrew and Eugenia moved to Middleton, Wisc., in 2006. He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Middleton.
He is survived by his wife, Eugenia; two daughters, Jane Antonovich of Madison, Wisc., and Laura Hegeman of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren; a sister, Gloria Siewert of St. Joseph, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews. Andrew was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William Schoenow; and his sister and brothers of his mother’s first marriage, Helen (Zuhl) Ferdinand, Edward and John Gerlach. Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held at a later date in St. Joseph, Mich. Those wishing to share a memory and sign the guest book may do so at: www.starks-menchinger.com.
