Michael Drummond Wright

Michael D. Wright, 76, of Harbert, MI passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, MI. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services 269-556-9450. No service or visitation has been planned. A private burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to Chickaming Open Lands Conservation at 12291 Red Arrow Highway, Sawyer, MI 49125. Those wishing to share a memory of Michael online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Michael was born October 18, 1940 in Chicago, IL to Harry & Francis (Harrison) Wright. He completed his Bachelor of Science Degree at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. On March 29, 1962, he married the love of his life, Judith Weinrich, in Chicago, IL. Michael enjoyed a long career with DuPont in their chemicals, dyes, and pigments division. Following retirement, he generously spent much of his time volunteering as a “handy man” helping friends and neighbors with painting and other projects. Michael also served on the board of directors of the Harbert Woods Association.  In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and watching the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, and Cubs. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and his dog Henry.   Michael will be missed by many.         Michael is survived by his wife, Judy; son Scott Wright of Chicago, IL; daughter Susan (Dolf) Kahle of Vero Beach, FL; and son Thomas Wright of Ft. Collins, CO; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Michael was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Natalie.
