Giannina M. Lounsburry, 90, of Gobles, formerly of Benton Harbor, passed away, Monday, December 19, 2016 at Lakeview Hospital in Paw Paw, Michigan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. Friday, December 23, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 600 Columbus Ave., Benton Harbor, with Fr. Brian Stanley officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday with the Rosary recited at 6:30 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Giannina was born April 12, 1926 in Carnegie, Pennsylvania to Angelo & Angelina (Puzateri) Castelli. She graduated from St. John’s High School in Benton Harbor, Class of 1944. On November 24, 1945, she married Howard L. Lounsburry in Norfolk, Virginia. Giannina was employed at Michigan Bell Telephone Company, retiring as Chief Night Operator after twenty-five years. She was one of the first members of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Benton Harbor, and then joined St. Jude’s Catholic Church when she moved to Gobles. Giannina was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She enjoyed watching TV-especially The Price is Right, Jeopardy, and Dr. Phil.
Giannina is survived by four daughters-Angela (Ken) Korpi of Ohio, Patty (Ted) Mills of Benton Harbor, Chrissy (Raymond) Lintern of California, Sharon (Jake) Van Dam of Gobles, twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and her sister Rose Bordon of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, her daughter Linda McKamey, and her brother-in-law James Bordon.
