Nina Ruth Dennison, 82, of St. Joseph, MI passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at her home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 12, 2016 at The Chapel, 4250 Washington Ave., St. Joseph with Pastor Tim Pietrogallo officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to her church The Chapel or the Parkinson Association. Nina was born July 18, 1934 in Russell, Arkansas to Oather & Lillian (Knight) Martin. On December 15, 1951 she married Robert Dennison in Hartford, MI. Nina worked for the Voice of Music and was selected as their queen in 1958. Nina worked for Sears for 44 years in retail and retired in December of 2009. Nina was also a Founding Mother of the North Lincoln Boys Baseball Association as well as a Michigan Republican Delegate for President Reagan in 1980 and 1984 and attended President Reagan’s Inaugural Ball. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, decorating for Christmas, spending time at her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s functions and sporting events, and was an active participant in her church.
Nina is survived by her husband Robert Dennison of St. Joseph; children Pamela (Jeffery) Dawson of Scituate, MA, Steven (Sally) Dennison of Portage, MI, Scott (Amy) Dennison of St. Joseph, MI, and Brenda (William) Hobbs, of St. Joseph, MI; grandchildren Jarrett (fiancée Tatiana) Dawson, Clayton Dawson, Whitney (Andy) Mayer, Christa (Josh) Moxon, Andrew Dennison, Brye Dennison, Kiersten Dennison, Lainey Dennison, Michael (Madison) Dennison, Susan (fiancée Kyle Jones) Dennison, Brent Dennison, Ashley (Todd) Muday, and Hydi Hobbs; 11 great grandchildren; brothers Harold (Dorothy) Martin, Jerry (Shirley) Martin and Gene (Lynn) Martin; granddaughter-in-law Shannon Hobbs and sister-in-law Peggy Martin. Nina was preceded in death by her parents Lillian and Oather, grandson William Hobbs III, and brother Junior Martin.
