Anona V. Myers

Anona V. Myers, 95, of St. Joseph, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Caretel Inn of Lakeland, with her family by her side. A Celebration of Life Services will take place at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., with Pastor Harris Hoekwater officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home. A private burial will take place at I.O.O.F Cemetery in Percy, IL at a later date. Anona was born September 17, 1921 in Percy, IL to Fred and Analee Metz. In 1942, Anona, married the love of her life, Raymond Myers. He preceded her in death in 2011. She lived most of her life in Percy, where she was an elementary school teacher for 34 years for Trico School District. After retirement, Anona and Raymond moved to Florida, but in 1994 moved to St. Joseph to be close to their family. She was a proud member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Percy but regularly attended the First United Methodist Church in St. Joseph. She was also a member of Order of Eastern Star in Steeleville, IL, American Legion Auxiliary in Percy, IL; and Illinois Retired Teachers Association. Anona enjoyed baking, traveling, reading her bible but most of all, her family. Anona is survived by her children, Terry (Patricia) Myers of St. Joseph and Richard Myers of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren, Andrew (Isabel) Myers of Costa Rica, Joshua (Natalie) Myers of Denver, CO and Karen Myers of Denver, CO; and great-grandchildren, Isabella, Fiona, Emerson and Ellarie.   Anona was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 69 years, Raymond.
