Esther Marie Vernon

Esther Marie Vernon, 90, went to be with her Lord on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Brentwood of Niles. Esther was born April 30, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois.  She married Norman Vernon in Chicago, IL on June 9, 1951.  They lived in the St. Joseph/Benton Harbor area where Esther stayed home to raise their children.  Later in life she worked at Sears in the cashier’s office for 17 years.  Esther had a strong faith.  She was a founding member of Lakeshore Baptist Church where she was active in the choir and served on the social and Christian education committees.  She loved time with family, music, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, golfing and camping.  The family would like to thank the staff at Brentwood of Niles for the excellent care they gave Mom. She is survived by her children Ted (Ruth Ann), Jim, Doug (Valerie) and Jane (Sylvia), and her grandchildren Andrea, Scott (Cheri) and Luke.  Esther was preceded in death by her parents Karl and Anna Pederson, husband Norman, in-laws Merle and Anne Vernon, siblings Charles, Richard, Marian and Ruth. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 11:30 am at Lakeshore Baptist Church, 5411 Cleveland Ave., Stevensville, MI 49127, with Rev. Duane Anderson officiating.  Friends may visit with the family at the church from 10:30 am until time of service.  Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeshore Baptist Church.
