Fern Lila Jackson

Fern L. Jackson, 98, of Berrien Springs, MI passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the Old Farm Living Center in Berrien Springs. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:30 AM, Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph with Rev. Harris Hoekwater officiating. Burial to follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit from 10:30 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Fern was born March 22, 1918 in Benton Harbor, MI to Clarence & Lila (Bogart) Schaus. She attended Benton Harbor High School and was a member of the Junior Monday Musical Club playing the violin. Fern worked at the Benton Harbor Canning Factory, Simonize and Patterson Printing. She kept a busy schedule also caring for her home and her children. Upon retirement she spent may years in Arcadia, Fl. Fern enjoyed crocheting, gardening, traveling but most of all spending time with her family. She is survived by her sons Cooper (Gwen) Jackson Jr. of Branch, MI and Jimmie (Lila) Jackson of Eau Claire, MI; grandchildren Jeffrey (Kathy) Jackson of South Rockwood, MI, Wendy Rhodes of Harrison, OH, Jenifer (Thomas) Golba of Massillon, OH and Amber Wicks of Eau Claire, MI; great-grandchildren Taylor (Ben) Toerner of Hamilton, OH, Courtney Rhodes of Oxford, OH, Grace Golba, Massillon, OH, Emily Golba of Massillon, OH, Savannah Wicks of Eau Claire and Peyton Wicks of Eau Claire and a great great granddaughter due in January. Fern was preceded in death by her husband Cooper Jackson Sr. on March 27, 1963; infant daughter Constant Kay; grandson Bradley Jackson; step great-granddaughter Julie James Jackson and sisters Luella Bermingham, Dorothy Fike and Marian Schaus.
