Daryl Godke, 86, of Lenexa, KS, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016.
Daryl Godke was born on January 29, 1930, in Kewanee, IL. His parents were John Godke and Muriel Ouart. He and his wife, Linda, recently moved to Lenexa, KS to be near his son, Bruce and his family. Daryl graduated from Bradley University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the Korean War as an ambulance driver for the Army.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at 4:00 P.M. at Starks and Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Dr. Robert Braman officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, December 11, 2016, from 3:00 P.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Daryl began his career at Caterpillar in Peoria, IL as an Engineer. He later moved to St. Joseph, MI where he worked for Clark Equipment as a Product Development Engineer. He completed his career at AUSCO, also in product development. He was an active member of the Kiwanis club and the First Congregational Church. He was an avid fisherman and loved to play cards but mostly, he loved spending time with his family. Daryl was an incredible and generous man who always enjoyed putting a smile on everyone’s face. He will be missed dearly by all.
Daryl is survived by his son, Bruce, daughter-in-law, Heidi, and granddaughters, Rebekah and Sarah Godke all of Shawnee, Kansas; his grandson, Christopher Johnson and son-in-law, Michael Johnson both of Lenoir City, Tennessee. He has one sibling, a sister, Janice Godke, who lives in Idyllwild, CA.
Daryl’s death was preceded by Linda, who died of cancer and his daughter, Susan, whose death was caused by diabetes.
