Bernhard Paul Siewert

Bernhard Paul Siewert, 94, of Stevensville, MI passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at his home with his loving family at his side.  In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Home, Lory’s Place or to the Southwest Michigan Humane Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.  Bernhard was born July 28, 1922 in Gdansk, Germany to John S and Felicia (Hebel) Siewert. In 1951 he married Anneliese Krienen in their homeland of Germany. Bernhard brought his wife and young daughter to the United States in 1958. Settling first in Chicago, then moving to Stevensville in 1974. Bernhardt worked for several years as a die setter for Shepherd Casters. He was a member of Pioneer Memorial Church in Berrien Springs.  He enjoyed cheering on all of the Chicago sports teams, and he loved Lake Michigan.  Bernhard is survived by his wife, Anneliese; daughter, Marion Vanze of TN; daughter-in-law, Kimm Siewert of Stevensville; grandchildren, Scott, Rachel, Amanda, Lukas and Lilly; great- grandchildren, Austen, Nicholas, Noah and Kylie; sister-in-law Irene (Vic) Miletic; along with several nieces and nephews.  Bernhard was preceded in death by his parents and his son David.
