Lela E. “Baldwin” Elliott, 77, of Stevensville, MI passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, MI.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, November 14, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor David Gargano officiating. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor, MI. Friends and family may visit from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hanson Hospice Center. Lela was born July 7, 1939 in Benton Harbor, MI to Orville & Esther (Krieger) Baldwin. Lela worked for Avion Coach Manufacturing for many years, she also worked at Lakeland Hospital and as a waitress at Howard Johnsons. Lela was a Sunday school teacher in her younger years, she helped many children to know the Lord. Lela enjoyed gardening, yard work, traveling, visiting the casino and spending time with her grandchildren. She was known as an especially hard worker and for her sense of humor and direct honesty.
Lela is survived by her children, Karla (Joanne Duran) Elliott of Stevensville, Shelly (Brent) Baldwin of Coloma and Byron Elliott of Stevensville; fifteen grand-children, Amy, Sandi, Robert, Michael, Cynthia, Kellie, Richard, Julia, Zander, Brendan, Abigail, Melayna, Gavin, Leyton and Sydney; six great grand-children and one on the way; a sister, Hannah Grissom and a brother Ronald Baldwin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby; son, Steven Elliott; her siblings, Delores Hall, Orville Baldwin Jr., Alfred Baldwin, Linda Higgens and Walter Baldwin.
