Harvey G. Emery, 94, of St. Joseph, passed away, Thursday, October 06, 2016 at The Willows in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Tim Pietragallo officiating. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 Pm until the time of service at the funeral home. Harvey was born November 15th, 1921 in Hillview Illinois to Marvin & Bertha (Reeder) Emery. He moved with his family to Michigan and graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1939. After graduation, he was stationed at Lackland Army Base in Denver, Colorado as an ammunitions instructor until deployed to Italy as Master Sergeant, part of the 353rd Bomb Squadron from December 15, 1944 to December 6, 1945. After returning home, he worked for VM Corporation as a tool and die maker for 35 years before retiring from Wolverine Stamping. Harvey was united in marriage January 5, 1946 to Adeline Jonas. He lived his life with a passion for family, God and many road trips. He and Adeline have visited all 50 states and Canada.
He was preceded in death by his wife Adeline and nephew Bob Taylor. Is survived by two daughters, Susan (Frank) Zieche of Aurora, Illinois, Joyce (Paul) Pschigoda of Stevensville, Michigan; 5 grandchildren Jennifer (Jeff) Baldwin, Robin (Bob) Adams, Holly (Rob) McFadden, Julie Huddleston, and Laura Huddleston; 11 great grandchildren; special niece, Sylvia Lieberg; special nephew, Ron Taylor, his canine buddy “Murphy” and his special and loving friends at The Willows.
