Marian Pihulic

Marian Pihulic, 90, of Kalamazoo (formerly of Stevensville) passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Park Place Assisted Living in Kalamazoo.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Saturday, September 24, 2016 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., in St. Joseph, with FR. Robert Creagan officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to the Pihulic family. Those wishing to share a memory of Marian online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com  Marian was born September 21, 1926 in Glendora, MI to Loens and Rose (Ott) Strauss. After graduation she worked for a short period of time at Clark Equipment where she met the love of her life Emil “Joe” Pihulic. She and Joe were married on September 2, 1950 at St. Mary’s in Bridgman. They then settled in Stevensville to begin their family.  A wonderful homemaker, Marian enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing (sometimes making matching dresses for her daughters). All who knew her well remember her prowess as a cook and those who were lucky enough to enjoy her french fries have been unable to find any better.  She was a kind, sweet woman who will be dearly missed.  Marian is survived by her six children Thomas Pihulic, Diane Pihulic, Linda (Jerry) Miltgen, Luella Jones, Daniel (Leticia) Pihulic, Carolyn (Kevin) Wilson; grandchildren Michael Pihulic, Marie (Matthew) Berberea, Matt Pihulic, Brandon (Bethany) Miltgen, Brian (Michelle) Miltgen, Glorily (Jeremy) Stuart, and Lareina (Lino) Rodriguez; 10 great grandchildren; sisters Mildred Vinke and Margie Ehlert; Marian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Harold Strauss.
