Kalvin was born on March 20, 1974 in Berrien Springs to James Higbee and Linda (Lyman) Higbee. Kalvin graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1992 and continued his education at Southwest Michigan Community College where he earned his Mechanic Certificate in 1995. He worked for St. Joseph Public Works as an Equipment Operator. However, Kalvin’s main passion in life was working as a 7th generation farmer at his family’s farm, Higbee’s Farm, in Millburg. At the young age of 6, he rode his first tractor which sparked an interest in all things farming. When Kalvin couldn’t be found on his tractors he would be riding around in his Ford Truck. Kalvin had a love for all animals, especially dogs. Another interest of his was swimming in Lake Michigan. Kalvin had a smile that was contagious and a personality that you couldn’t forget. He was a fun & loving man and will be missed dearly by everyone. Kalvin is survived by his parents, James Higbee & Linda Higbee (Fred Chernetski); brother, Alan Higbee; girlfriend, Dawn Tomlin; many loving aunts, uncles & cousins; God-parents, Beth & Fred Wassilak; dear friends, Amanda Scott & Dawn (Dennis) Clawsson; and his four-legged faithful companion, Wiley.
