Theresia Gerstenkorn

Theresia Gerstenkorn, 89, of Stevensville, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Pine Ridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:30 A.M. Monday, August 8, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Jeffery Bolwerk officiating.  Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville.  Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 6:00 P.M. Theresia was born December 9, 1926 in Bavaria, Germany to Josef & Margaret (Jberl) Schaller. On March 28, 1947 she married Helmut Gerstenkorn in Hersbrück, Germany. Theresia worked at and retired from LECO Corporation and was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and gardening flowers and vegetables. Theresia also delighted in cooking and baking for her friends and family. She will be remembered for her caring nature and her concern for others. Theresia is survived by her children-Erhard (Jacqueline) Gerstenkorn of Deltona, FL, Manfred (Teresa) Gerstenkorn of St. Joseph, Heidi (Gary) Splese of St. Joseph; nine grandchildren-Rebecca (Bernd) Lucius, Timothy Gerstenkorn, Edward Gerstenkorn, Colleen (Charlie) Cox, Jennifer Gerstenkorn, Jason Gerstenkorn, Juliann Gerstenkorn, Nicholas Splese, Nathan Splese; great-grandchildren-Brittany, Brandon, Mackenzie, and Joshua; sisters-Anna Fischer and Agathe Roppelt both of Germany; sister-in-law-Frieda Gerstenkorn of St. Joseph; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Helmut on December 11, 2011, four brothers and four sisters.
